ABOUT SMARTSAVER

SmartSAVER is a non-profit community project. Our goal is to make it easier for families living on low- and modest-incomes to help their children move out of poverty by accessing and building assets. We empower families to claim their federal government funding that is available to them, and at no cost, so that they can realize their dreams and aspirations for their kids to succeed in training, college, or at university, after they graduate from high school.

Our team is always happy to speak with community organizations and parents about the Canada Learning Bond and the benefits of education savings.

SmartSAVER Program Coordinator – Full time, one-year contract

We are looking for an enthusiastic Program Coordinator to support our efforts to help put children from low and modest income families on the path to post-secondary education.

The Program Coordinator will act as a liaison between SmartSAVER (a marketing initiative of The Omega Foundation) and various community organizations to execute our pilot programs. All programs are geared to increase the take-up rate of the Canada Learning Bond (CLB), a federal government education savings grant for low and modest income families.

The Program Coordinator’s work will ensure pilot requirements are met, facilitate the development and delivery of promotional materials, provide administrative tasks and deliver broader training sessions as required. The one-year contract position requires some travel throughout Ontario (no car required) and has the potential for renewal.

The ideal candidate is a recent post secondary graduate, preferably with 2-3 years of work experience, and a quick study with outstanding communication skills and attention to detail. The individual is confident and willing to take initiative with little guidance and is also able to pivot quickly to accommodate last-minute changes in direction. An understanding of community-based organizations is an asset.

About Us

Since 2000, the Omega Foundation, a Canadian charitable organization, has maintained an interest and role in providing access to education savings for underserved families. Our SmartSAVER initiative has helped promote the value of saving for education by encouraging and assisting families in establishing RESPs for their children – at no cost to themselves. Our work is supported by our partners including the federal government, the five largest banks, many major credit unions, several private foundations, individual philanthropists, and over 70 community partners across Canada.

To date, the focus of our efforts has been to raise awareness of the Canada Learning Bond and to overcome barriers that prevent families from opening RESPs. Our online StartMyRESP application has facilitated a warm introduction between over 13,000 families and the financial institution of their choice.
